About the event

As beautiful as the roses are, as fun as the concerts, as fabulous as the museums, the story of Golden Gate Park is one of trees and Romantic Ideals. Of believing that nature improves the spirits and character of people trapped in urban squalor. And so two million trees later the windswept dunes of San Francisco's Outerlands became Golden Gate Park. We'll walk through Golden Gate park, identifying springtime edibles, like miners lettuce and chickweed, magnolia blossoms, rose geraniums and redwood tips. We'll talk about the history of the park and urban foraging ethics for 1.5 hours, and then have a tasting of wild foods like smoked and pickled mushrooms and brie with candied pine cones.
