About the event
There is nothing quite like witnessing a full moon rising over Angel Island and flushing Richardson Bay with hues of orange and purple. This event will be deeply immersive, as we'll be eating local seafood prior to paddling. Between chef and author Maria Finn - who lives on the Sausalito waterfront, and highly knowledgable guides from Sea Trek, you'll be introduced into an entirely new way of experiencing the waterfront and beauty and bounty that's available here.
5:30 Starters and Dinner
Starters of crostinis of local San Francisco anchovies preserved in lemon and salt and served with Ramani Burrata from West Marin and squash blossoms.
Local cheeses and charcuterie
Main: Confit of local albacore tuna served over greens from Star Route Farms, heirloom tomatoes, smoked and pickled mushrooms, lemon cucumbers and and bonita potatoes with a sauce of preserved lemon and seaweed gremolata
Portside Sourdough Bread (from the Sausalito waterfront!) and housemade seaweed butter
Finish with dessert grazing platter with fresh fruit.
(Note: mocktails and sparkling water will be provided. We ask that no one consumes alcohol before going out kayaking.)
Kayaking 6:30-9:15
We'll start with instructions on kayak safety and technique and then depart near the Matthew Turner Tall Ship and travel the Sausalito waterfront, learning about the history of the area - both natural and unnatural. Tour the houseboats by sea and then with the moon high over Angel Island, we’ll bring our boats together and enjoy the sparkling San Francisco skyline, and the silvery moonlight in the wake of our kayaks.
No kayaking experience necessary!
