About the event
It’s porcini season! These plump, tawny capped boletes are highly sought after for their savory flavor. At this camp, you’ll be guided to find porcini and other choice edible mushrooms on pine tree-rich private property in Northern Sonoma. You’ll learn to look for “indicators” or mushrooms that often grow near porcini. And you will hone your skills spotting ‘shrumps’ or ‘mushrumps’, which are little mounds of pine needles that often hide small porcini. We’ll forage for other early edibles like chanterelles, Queen boletes, and more.
Friday night: The Fort Ross Store and Deli will be showing a mushroom centric movie TBD. Enjoy beer, wine and food while viewing.
We’ll have a brief introduction to finding culinary mushrooms at 10am, and then forage for mushrooms from 10:30-12:30. This will be followed by a mushroom cooking demonstration and lunch that will last until about 2 or 3:00.

You don't need to bring your ticket as we'll have your name. You'll get an email one week in advance with what to bring, you can send us your dietary restrictions, we'll have a waiver for you to sign, and other information. If you can't make it, feel free to gift your spot to a friend as we are unable to give refunds.
